Had you told me back in 2007, when I was dragged to my first class @ SoulCycle Rear Lobby, in a sign-free building in NYC…that I would work all over the world with entrepreneurs opening cycling studios…I would have laughed at you.
Who I Am
As a child more at home in a ballet class than on a baseball diamond (surprising my parents who played sports in college & met while coaching!)…I was not expecting a career working in fitness.
I love the experience of a great group fitness class, one which makes clients feel something: challenged, happy, emotionally raw, asking for the playlist afterwards, etc. THIS is my north star, not a traditional gym. Moving to music. Having an experience I want to bring friends to join next time.
First job out of university, I worked in 4-star Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s office & on the opening of Spice Market, Meatpacking District, NYC.
The hospitality tools I learned then, I use now in the boutique fitness industry.
Pre-fitness, I was a performer, worked freelance in the music industry & DJed off my laptop decks in Brooklyn bars for fun.
I was a consumer of the pre-ClassPass, NYC boutique fitness craze for 4 years before teaching.
In 2011 during Equinox's acquisition, I finished SoulCycle’s (then) 9-month-long instructor training.
After, I certified + learned how to effectively ride an indoor bike from Schwinn; teaching 15-20 classes/week in NYC, for 3 years.
My programming & vision lives somewhere between accessible exercise science (Schwinn) & the unmatched vibes (SoulCycle).
In January 2014, I answered a Craigslist-NYC ad (yes, really!) to move to Singapore for a few months to build programming & train instructors for the first cycle studio in Southeast Asia.
Since 2014, I've relocated & worked with early adopters, bringing studio indoor cycling culture to countries & cities where it did not yet exist.
60% of the first group of instructors I trained later invested into or co-founded their own boutique fitness studios in multiple modalities.
I truly believe mentorship is wanting others to pass what they’ve learned onto the next generation.
While at a dinner in Berlin in 2017, I asked 4 Europe-based boutique cycling studio owners if they would want to attend my vision of the "anti-mainstream-fitness-conference"; a purposefully-small, boutique-focused event to connect meaningfully and learn alongside peers. A resounding yes and in May 2018, launched our first Boutique Fitness Talks event.
In early 2020 after working alongside cycle studio owners, I wanted to help ALL format group fitness coaches wanting to fill their rooms, to enhance a key piece of their personal brand & make more income/impact now + over a long career.
After years of hearing both preventable voice damage & inauthentic copies of Insta-famous instructors on mics in studios worldwide, I connected with Ashley FitzSimmons-Olsen, M.S., CCC-SLP & we created PEP For FitPros. We Preserve, Enhance & Protect (PEP) coaches voices with voice performance & hygiene tools for coaches. Our course material was filmed & available to purchase for remote learning & our 3 hour workshop is hosted at studios, in-person.
We ran 2 IRB-approved studies & co-authored 2 academic papers on the fitness coach & their voice.
Should you want to speak about anything I’ve mentioned, let's do it!

I can’t wait to meet you.
